Born in the United Kingdom, of Bangladeshi descent, Akram Khan is highly regarded in the contemporary dance scene. His works represent the pursuit and exploration of his own story while reflecting his views on the contemporary world, exuding a poetic vibe through an intense visual aesthetics. This talk will look into how Jungle Book reimagined conveys the creator’s concerns.

A veteran performing arts critic in Hong Kong, Chan is the founding artistic director of the amateur theatre group Friends’ Theatre, as well as the president of the collective William et al. Creative Lab. He has created more than 20 studio theatre original productions and multi-media performances. In recent years, Chan has been working on various research projects, creating documentary theatre works, as well as teaching Arts & Cultural Management at tertiary institutions.
