A pianist, a ballerina, state-of-the-art animations and digital effects. The Nutcracker and I retells Tchaikovsky’s seasonal masterpiece like it has never been seen before. Created and produced by Alexandra Dariescu, who took on the challenge of reaching out to younger audiences, this ground-breaking multimedia performance aims at building bridges for those who are new to classical music.

Captivating the audience with her pianistic virtuosity, Dariescu draws a parallel between The Nutcracker’s young girl Clara and her own childhood dream of becoming a concert pianist. She is joined on stage by a dancer moving behind a see-through screen while exquisite hand drawn digital images are projected, bringing the magical story to life.

Hailed as The Nutcracker for the 21st century, this scintillating performance has enjoyed international critical acclaim since its premiere in 2017, reaching over 70,000 people worldwide. In 2019, the show was shortlisted as a nominee for the Opus Klassik, one of the most prestigious German awards.

Delving into a fantastical realm, this adventure becomes so real that we might even start to believe in sugar plum fairies! A visual and musical treat for all ages.
