Over the last two decades, Mariza has beautifully shifted from Lisbon’s fado phenomenon to global icon. As a true ambassador for Portugal’s national music, the journey has taken her along new and daring paths. Her repertoire, while remaining anchored in classical and contemporary fado, embraces Cape Verdean mornas, Rhythm & Blues, with the occasional wink at the musical flavours of Brazil, Spain and Mozambique.
As the most established Portuguese living artist around the globe, on the footsteps of the great Amália Rodrigues, she has taken the “Portuguese blues” to some of the world’s greatest stages, having collaborated with a wide range of musicians, from Jaques Morelenbaum and Cesária Évora to Lenny Kravitz and Sting.
Gracefully backed by her skilful band, the singer lends her voice to the Macao Chinese Orchestra, under the baton of internationally renowned conductor Tsung Yeh, adorning Western Poetry with Chinese chords. Featuring favourite songs from a 20-year career, offering glimpses of Mariza’s latest album, the show will certainly spur a joyful roar from an enthralled audience.
