Condanza stands for concerto con danza, music with dance!
Condanza spirituale explores 17th century depictions of the lamentations of the Virgin Mary.
Since the beginning of 1994 Ann-Christin Rommen, Katrin Rauschendorfer, dancer Michaela Isabel Funfhausen, singer Maria Jonas and lutenist Stephan Rath have worked together as an ensemble under this name. Ann Christin Rommen (director) and Katrin Rauschendorfer (costume designer) - both very close collaborators of Robert Wilson and Frida Parmeggiani - built the visual frame by choosing constellations in space, light and colours.
Their first project - “condanza spirituale” - had its opening in Cologne in May 1996 and was invited to Festspielhaus Hellerau (Dresden), and Styriarte-Festival (Graz) among others.
Works by
Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179)
Cipriano Bassano (1515-1565)
Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643)
Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643)
Tarquinio Merula (1595-1665)
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)
among others.
