The final opera of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
premiered in Prague in 1787, conducted by the composer himself. In this unique
version of Don Giovanni, the artists of the Prague National Marionette
Theatre follow the original Italian libretto to the letter. Over the past 16
years, 3000 performances stand as testament to the authenticity of this beloved
Czech tradition.
The renowned marionettes from Prague revive the
true atmosphere of 18th century theatre, dressed in period costumes from the
time of the opera's debut. Also appearing are the theatrical effects of Mozart's
day, enlivening Don Giovanni's fantastic scenes of passion and intrigue.
