This mythological leather-silhouette play is the
recipient of multiple awards. The story recounts how Madame Benevolence, the
previous incarnation of Kun Iam, makes a vow to the Buddha to save her people in
her next incarnation as Princess Miaoyu.
A devout Buddhist, the princess is loved for her
charitable acts. Suddenly, her community is threatened by a plague of poison,
and Miaoyu embarks on a journey full of hardships and dangers to get an ancient
antidote that will save the world. She succeeds, becoming Kun Iam the Goddess of
Mercy, a favourite goddess for the people of Macau.
