Undeniably the reigning virtuoso of the violin, Itzhak Perlman is known for his brilliant technique, direct interpretation and precision. He enjoys a superstar status rarely afforded to a classical musician, and he has appeared with every major orchestra in the world, showcasing his talent at music festivals, recitals, and concerts on six continents. The man who plays sitting down has never ceased to bring audiences – and truly, the world – to their feet in appreciation of his gifts.

President Reagan granted him a “Medal of Liberty” in 1986, and President Clinton awarded him the “National Medal of Arts” in December 2000. In 2003, he was a Kennedy Center Honoree. In 2009, Mr. Perlman was honoured to take part in the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. Perhaps one of his greatest moments as an artist came when he collaborated with legendary composer John Williams. The film score that was created, with Mr. Perlman as a soloist, was used in the Academy Award-winning film Schindler's List (1993). He proudly possesses four Emmy Awards and fifteen Grammy awards.

A holder of honorary degrees from Harvard, Yale and Yeshiva Universities, among others, Itzhak Perlman displays a passion for music that recommends him to the world. The joy of making music has seldom been translated so well, and it is this combination of talent and personal charm that makes him such an outstanding violinist, truly the greatest violin virtuoso of our time.
