Music: Hao Weiya/ Lyrics: Dong Fangfang: Lotus Island
Music: Li Binyang/ Lyrics: Dong Fangfang: Jinghai
Music: Liu Changyuan/ Lyrics: Dong Fangfang: Barra
The Macao Chinese Orchestra has specially commissioned renowned composers Liu Changyuan, Hao Weiya and Li Binyang, in collaboration with famous lyricist Dong Fangfang, to produce a collection of songs based on the characteristic culture and customs of Macao.
Vocal Music on the Theme of Macao features three symphonic works with vocal soloists, fusing bel canto and folk singing techniques with the sounds of the Macao Chinese Orchestra. Literary and musical elements combine to create a new classic in folkloric music, a performance audiences are sure to find refreshing. The orchestra invited young singers, acclaimed both at home and abroad, to perform these songs. Soprano Lu Wei has received numerous awards for her clear and gentle voice. Baritone Gao Peng’s other-worldly, mellow voice resonates from deep within him. Outstanding works by renowned music educator Father Áureo Castro are also featured in this concert, performed by local choirs and soprano Cecilia Cheong. Emanating rich local flavour, Macao Feelings highlights the universal value of lasting kindness and beauty.
Duration: approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, with no interval
