Perplexed young men faced with depression, drug abuse and gambling.
Leslie, Danny and Paul, three young talents fresh at the start of their careers, should have had a promising future. Danny displays his gift for singing in a competition, skyrocketing to overnight fame, but the new pop idol fails to cope with the pressure, resorting to drugs for escape and release. Paul has the gift of gab and becomes a popular DJ, but he has gone too far with his gambling and has run up an enormous amount of debt, causing friends and family to abandon him for good. Leslie, despite being given the cold shoulder numerous times, never gives up on becoming a singer. When his tireless efforts finally pay off, he is unable to relieve his stress and falls into a deep depression. The three best friends grow up in separate ways…
The musical Shooting Star, staged in Hong Kong eight times, has toured in many other parts of the world, including Macao, Singapore, Malaysia and Canada, since 2006. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Leslie Chueng. Let’s recall his superb artistry by revisiting this musical in a star-studded Macao production.
