As the Macao Chinese Orchestra presents evergreen melodies from China's classic films and television dramas, they bring you along to revisit past decades and reconstruct historical fragments, weaving musical tones and literary classics into tapestries of romance.
The repertoire includes music from the television drama Dream of the Red Chamber, adapted from the famed literary masterpiece, and from the celebrated film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and numerous other prizes. Also featured are themes from the award-winning film The Last Emperor and from the television drama Courtyard of Family Qiao, a show that honoured human suffering and dignified the struggle to survive.
Despite her young age, singer Cui Rui is known for her impressive interpretations of classical poetry. She has been awarded the Folk Singing Golden Award and the Outstanding Song Award at the 2nd Golden Bell Awards, among many others. Remarkable erhu player Zhou Tingting’s crisp and elegant style has earned herwidespread recognition and numerous distinctions, such as 1st Prize in the 1st Instrumental Music Competition (Zhenlong Cup) and the 1st Prize in the Harbin Instrumental Music Competition.
