In their second performance in the 28th MIMF, I Musici invites you to experience an evening of exciting musical juxtapositions. In the early 1970s, Argentinean film-music composer Luis Enríquez Bacalov collaborated with Italian progressive rock band “New Trolls” on their Concerto grosso album, and I Musici brings this stimulating crossover to the Festival stage. Astor Piazzolla is universally known as the father of the “Nuevo Tango,” which incorporates elements from jazz and classical music into the traditional tango to create a unique and electrifying fusion of musical styles. Despite its common name, The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires are not inspired by Vivaldi’s famous set of concertos, but originate as four independent compositions. The extraordinary Hèctor Ulises Passarella, considered as one of the greatest contemporary bandoneon players as well as one of the most interesting composers inspired in the music of the Rio de la Plata, will be a soloist in this extraordinary set of pieces. I Musici will also perform Antonio Vivaldi’s masterpiece The Four Seasons. I Musici recorded for the first time ever Vivaldi’s masterpiece which sold an astonishing 25 million copies in various editions, making it one of the most famous pieces in the musical repertoire ever!
