Franz Joseph Haydn once said the string quartet as a conversation between four individuals. The four string instruments are like four people with different personalities: one of them speaks eloquently, another echoes the others’ words, the third holds the wisdom of the old, while the final one chatters persistently. The performance presents a classic quartet by Ludwig van Beethoven and a ‘double quartet’ – Felix Mendelssohn’s string octet. For sure they will have a great chat!
