Introduction: It is the heyday of the Tang Dynasty, international trade, language learning, mutual visits and exchange of friendship with other countries are encouraged. A mandate arrives to General Li from the Tang Emperor ordering him to travel to Xiyu, the Western Regions, referring to the area west of Yumenguan Pass，including what is now Xinjiang and parts of Central Asia, to open a road of commerce, culture and friendship to countries in Asia and Europe. Fully loaded with silk, porcelain, tea and other goods, the caravan set out from Chang’an, today’s Xi’an on a historical journey with snowy desert, hardships and perils awaiting them, leading to the opening of the later incredible Silk Road.
With more focus on the enchanting life along the Silk Road rather than its history, this show will present you a glimpse of highlight happenings that links countries, nationalities and cultures along the Silk Road.
