Alexander Ekman, a young choreographer who is highly sought-after on the international scene, is determined to do something unique, great and innovative. When creating his first full-length ballet A Swan Lake for the Norwegian National Ballet, he inventively filled the stage of Oslo Opera House with 5,000 litres of water and brought drama, dance theatre and opera elements as well as 1,000 plastic ducks onto the stage, seeking to recreate the classic Swan Lake over a century later following its unsuccessful debut in 1877.
Ekman has won a number of awards and enjoys worldwide acclaim by virtue of the uniqueness and humour presented in his works. The timeless Swan Lake is set to enter a new chapter with his creative choreography, music by Swedish composer Mikael Karlsson, and costumes by Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov.
