The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) is now opening applications for the 2018 Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums. Each selected album will be granted a subsidy of up to MOP150,000 as well as the opinions and given professional advice from the members of the jury. The subsidy will be given to a maximum of eight beneficiaries and the application period starts from 18 December 2018 until 31 January 2019, at 5pm.

The Programme aims to cultivate more talented music creators and producers in Macao. By giving support to the production and promotion of original song albums, IC hopes to encourage musicians to produce and release more outstanding works and lay the groundwork for market development. With the aim of fostering the local music industry, several promotional activities will be held for the beneficiaries, so as to provide more performance opportunities, publicize the Programme’s accomplishments and increase the public’s understanding of the local music industry.

Applicants for the Programme must be holders of a valid Macao S.A.R. Permanent Resident Identity Card and aged 18 or above. They must take the role of album producer or of interpreter of the album of the project as individuals, co-producers, singing groups, bands or organisations; and comply with the regulations as laid down in the Application Rules of the Programme.

In addition, album candidates for this Programme must be solo, singing group or band albums. The adjudicating panel will select a maximum of eight beneficiaries and albums after the first and the second reviews, based on seven criteria: budget rationale, perfection level of album production proposals, compatibility between the album, album image and market positioning, level of composition and lyrics, level of arrangement and production, performance level of album artist as well as implementation capacity of the applicant and the crew. The Programme will cover the costs for song production and cover design of the album, as well as the physical album production.

The Programme’s information, application rules and forms can be downloaded on the Cultural Affairs Bureau website (www.icm.gov.mo) or on the Macao Cultural and Creative Industries Website (www.macaucci.gov.mo). Applicants should submit all required documents to the Department for Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of Cultural Affairs Bureau (Cultural Affairs Bureau Building, Tap Siac Square, Macao) during the specific submission period. For enquiries, please contact Ms. Chong or Mr. Lo, staff members of IC, at (853) 8399 6265 during office hours.
