Announcement of the result of the winning works of the “Open Call for Artworks of Macao Artists 2019”

Organized by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the evaluation of entries for the “Open Call for Artworks of Macao Artists 2019” has been completed recently and a total of 220 pieces (sets) of entries from 148 applicants have been received. After the rigorous selection by the jury, 3 Jury Awards, 7 Distinction Awards and 66 pieces (sets) of shortlisted works were selected. The list of winners is as follows:

Jury Awards: In the Mountain by Tam Chon Kit, Walls III by Lam Un Mei, Gaze Around by Xu Lingzhi; Distinction Awards: Former Fu on Red Cliff by Kim Seng Chong, Blessing by Ieong Weng Kuong, Bodhisattva by Lou Shaoyi, Lotus by Ho Pan, Raising the Flag in the Land of Lotus by Gu Yue, Historical Memory by Mak Kuong Weng, series of Movement III and Movement V by Leung Tat Hong.

The members of the adjudicating panel included Head of Research and Planning Department of the National Art Museum of China, Shao Xiaofeng; the Director of Exhibition Department of the National Art Museum of China, Yi E; Deputy Researcher of the National Art Museum of China, Ren Zhe; the Adjunct Professor of Academy of Visual Arts of the Hong Kong Baptist University, Tang Hoi-Chiu; and the Director of the School of Arts of the Macao Polytechnic Institute, Hsu Hsiu-Chu. All selected works will be sent to the exhibition “Artworks of Macao Artists 2019” in Beijing, showcasing the achievement of Macao’s art.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Museum of Art, the Macao Museum of Art and the National Art Museum of China co-organize the thematic exhibitions, including the current exhibition “Beauty in the New Era: Masterpieces from the Collection of the National Art Museum of China” at MAM and the exhibition “Artworks of Macao Artists 2019”, to be held in November at National Art Museum of China, thus promoting artistic exchange between Beijing and Macao.

The list of shortlisted and winning works is available at the MAM’s website www.MAM.gov.mo. Winners and the selected applicants will be notified by IC.
