The Macao Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau launches the 19th issue of the magazine Books and the City, now available to the public. This is the time of the year when graduates are seeking jobs, therefore this issue is themed “Job-seeking Tips”, featuring interviews with human resources professionals and international business etiquette instructors, who introduce various job-seeking skills and recommend a number of useful books to fresh graduates and job-seekers.

In this issue, the column “Library Portrait” features an interview with library promoters, who facilitate library activities. The column “Library Handbook” reviews an intriguing thematic talk of this year’s Macao Library Week, “Tasting the History and Culture of Macanese Delicacies”, which introduces exchanges between gastronomy and culture. In the column “Author’s Say”, Alex Lou is invited to share his thoughts and motivations on writing the book Macau Governor’s Residence. The column “Library Wonder Why” introduces the Library’s book-crossing activities to readers, while the column “New Launch” introduces a rich variety of new arrivals, including books, movies, music and magazines. This issue also features ten brief yet insightful book reviews in Chinese, Portuguese and English.

A total of 3,000 copies of Books and the City are available free of charge at all libraries under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, tertiary institutions, Tap Seac Gallery and several bookstores as well as cultural and art spaces in Macao. The online versions of the past eighteen issues are also available at the Macao Public Library website at www.library.gov.mo.
