Applications for the 21st Macao Young Musicians' Competition – Piano, are open from 17th to 24th March.
All young persons residing in Macao that are interested in taking part must go to Macao Conservatory, located at Avenida de Horta e Costa, No. 16, and open every day except for Sunday, from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m., in order to apply for the competition. Those wishing to apply must fill in the application form and bring a copy of their Macao Resident’s ID Card (or student card), and pay an application fee of 50 Patacas.
The competition, which has been running for 20 years, will have some changes introduced by the Cultural Institute that will permit greater dissemination of the event.
Thus, the 21st MYMC will be exclusively dedicated to the piano, the competition for other instruments will be held in the MYMC next year.
The competition will be held from 1st to 8th May, in the auditorium of Macao Polytechnic Institute, in order to provide the competitors with a higher degree of concentration.
The various categories include Piano Solo, Concert, Sonatina, Beethoven Sonata, Chopin, 20th Century Composers, Chinese Composers, Macanese Composers, Piano Duet (elementary and advanced level).
The “Cultural Institute” prize and the Virtuosity Prize will continue. These prizes offer the opportunity of studying abroad to the most promising students.
The regulations and application forms are available from 8th February at the Macao Conservatory and on the site of the Cultural Institute, www.icm.gov.mo.
