Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, the 24th Macao Young Musicians Competition (MYMC) now accepts registrations till April 12. Competition regulations and application forms can be downloaded from the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s website: www.icm.gov.mo or retrieved from the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s libraries, the Tap Seac Gallery and the Macao Conservatory.
The annual MYMC aims at encouraging local musical development, enhancing artistic knowledge and raising the performance levels of Macao’s young musicians and to provide real support and chances to local artists. The 24th MYMC will start from June 17 to July 11. There are a total of 61 categories, including Chinese instruments, western instruments, vocal, chamber music and ensemble. In each category, along with the regular prizes, the Organiser will award “Special Prizes” to support talented young musicians to further their studies locally or abroad.
Registration for the 24th MYMC will start from 9am to 7pm (inclusive of lunch time) between April 6 and 12 at the Cultural Events Department. In order to speed up the registration process, applicants should bring along a completed application form with a photocopy of Macao S.A.R. Resident ID Card, a copy of self-chosen music notation and a stamped addressed envelope (for registrations of two categories or below, the postage fee is MOP$2.5 and the minimum length for the envelope is 8.5 inches; for three categories or above, the postage fee is MOP$4.5 and the envelope must be in A4 size.) The participant’s name and address should be written clearly on the envelope.
For the convenience of the participants, the assigned songs for all categories are now available in the Central Library and the Sir Robert Ho Tung Library for reference.
