The Cultural Affairs Bureau organizes the “34th Macao Young Musicians Competition”, this year dedicated to Chinese and Western instruments, to be held between 25 July and 7 August in several venues in Macao. In order to promote the development of classical music in Macao and offer local young musicians valuable performance and learning opportunities, the Cultural Affairs Bureau has enlarged the list of compulsory pieces required by the Macao Young Musicians Competition for the wind and percussion instruments examinations. More information regarding the list of compulsory pieces can be checked and downloaded in the Macao Young Musicians Competition’s website (www.icm.gov.mo/cjmm). Applicants may consult the compulsory pieces scores from today at the Macao Central Library, Sir Robert Ho Tung Library and Taipa Library during office hours.
Applications for this edition of the Macao Young Musicians Competition will be accepted from 22 to 29 April, online or in person. Applicants who choose to apply online must register online first, from 10am on 22 April to 12am on 29 April through the Macao Young Musicians Competition’s webpage (www.icm.gov.mo/cjmm). The supporting documents and an application fee of MOP80 per category must be submitted at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building, located at Tap Seac Square between 28 and 30 April, from 10am to 7pm (open during lunch hour and on Saturdays). Applicants may also choose to apply in person at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building during the period and time indicated, together with the completed application form, required documents and an application fee of MOP100 per category. All applicants must hold a valid Macao SAR Resident identity card and those who apply for the solo Chinese and Western instruments categories must have been born on or after 1995; while applicants for the vocal solo category must have been born on or after 1991.
