Macao Museum of Art holds an exhibition of cultural relics of the Palace Museum with special promotions on exquisite catalogues and souvenirs

The Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will present the exhibition “The Long Journey: The Forbidden City and Maritime Silk Road” on 18 December, which is the largest and the most comprehensive exhibition of cultural relics of the Palace Museum in the past 20 years with the latest digital interactive technology in Macao. The exhibition features different exhibits in different forms displayed on three floors of MAM, allowing the audience to explore the spectacular history of the exchange between China and the world. In order to prepare the venue for the exhibition, the exhibition spaces in MAM will be alternately closed temporarily from 19 November to 17 December.

In addition, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, the 20th anniversary of the establishment of MAM and its collaboration with the Palace Museum, MAM will offer special promotions for the exhibition catalogues and cultural souvenirs from 19 November 2019 to 15 March 2020, inviting the public to experience the cultural appeal and promoting the popularization of art education in the community. During the promotion period, a 30% discount will be offered for any purchase in the MAM Gift Shop and the Palace Museum Shop (except for consigned souvenirs); a 60% discount and “buy 2 get 1 free” discount will be offered for purchases of exhibition catalogues published by MAM in 1999-2009; Friends of MAM, local teachers and students with valid identity documents will be offered a catalogue from the selection of MAM’s blockbuster exhibition, including over 500 pages exhibition catalogue of The Golden Exile – Pictorial Expressions of the School of Western Missionaries' Artworks of the Qing Dynasty Court, Lightness of Essence – Tibetan Buddhism Relics of the Palace Museum and Moments of Eternity – Timepieces Collection from the Palace Museum, among others.

In conjunction with the preparations of the exhibition “The Long Journey: The Forbidden City and Maritime Silk Road”, the exhibition spaces on the second to fourth floor of MAM will be temporarily closed from 19 November to 17 December. The current exhibition “On the Way to the World’s Stage – Macao and the International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale” is held until 1 December. The gift shops and the reception counter are open with regular art workshops as usual.
