A graduate with a BA in Yangqin from the Department of Folk Music, Wuhan Conservatory of Music, Li Feifan is a national second class performer, a member of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society, and vice president of the Shenzhen Nationalities Orchestra Society. In 1982, he won the Best Performance Award at National Traditional Instrumental Music Competition by the Ministry of Culture of the State Council. From 1982 to 1984, he played for the Hubei Provincial Opera and Dance Theatre and also lectured at the Xi'an Conservatory of Music from 1984 to 1991.
