Chen Yi-Chun

Born in Taichung, Chen has served as a cellist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra since 2004, previously held the position of acting associate principal. In 2008, she was appointed as a lecturer at Hong Kong Baptist University. At the age of 16, Chen was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music in the United States, where she studied under renowned cellist David Soyer. She then pursued a Master’s degree at Boston University.

For many years, Chen has been actively involved in charity work. She has organised concerts to raise funds for the Hong Kong Ebenezer School, helping to provide resources for visually impaired children to develop their musical talents. More recently, she has become a music volunteer at the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, holding music workshops and visiting patients’ wards to bring joy to hospitalised children and their caregivers. She believes in the power of music to connect people and bring positive energy to the community.
