Liu is a renowned suona player from Taiwan and a graduate from the Chinese Music Department of Tainan University of The Arts, where he served as the principal suona during his studies. He is currently serving as a long-term suona performer with Kaohsiung Chinese Orchestra and a suona teacher at the Youth Chinese Orchestra of Kaohsiung Chinese Orchestra.

He is interested in all wind instruments and their relevant culture, and also engages in the recording of songs of different genres and cross-disciplinary collaborations. He has frequently been invited to perform in and attend interviews with news programmes and variety shows in Taiwan, and has also been invited to tour in France, Turkey, Japan, Canada, and the United States. Lin is also the first musician invited to give a suona performance for the official opening of professional baseball games in Taiwan.
