Melody Yu

Yu is a member of the China Musicians Association, an honorary director of the Yangqin Professional Committee and a member of the Guqin Professional Committee of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society, chairman and artistic director of the Hong Kong Dulcimer Orchestra Association, founding president of the Hong Kong Yangqin Association, and founder of the Hong Kong Arts Focal Hub. After finishing her studies in yangqin and guqin at the Central Conservatory of Music, she settled in Hong Kong and has been a committed performer and educator.

From 2001 to 2016, she was a full-time musician and acting principal yangqin of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, with which she toured China, Europe, America and Canada. Yu currently teaches at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Education University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In recent years, she has been invited to perform in the United Kingdom, France and China, and given yangqin recitals with her students. She has been the recipient of several outstanding educator awards and invited to be the adjudicator of music competitions from home and abroad.
