Nicolas Rusillon

Born in the French speaking part of Switzerland, Rusillon learned to play the trumpet at the age of eight, and went to Paris 10 years later to pursue his studies. Under the guidance of Eric Aubier, he achieved the following awards from Conservatoire National de Région Rueil-Malmaison, including Premier prix de trompette (1998), Prix d’excellence (2000), Prix de perfectionnement (2001) and also won the Premier prix de trompette de la ville de Paris in 2000 under Dominique Brunet.

He later obtained a Master of Pedagogy (with baroque trumpet performance included) from the Haute École de Musique of the Conservatoire de Lausanne in 2003 under Gabriele Cassone. Between 2001 to 2007, Rusillon actively participated in classic and baroque orchestras, music festivals and jazz scene in Switzerland and France. In 2008, he moved to Taiwan and joined the Taiwan Philharmonic as principal trumpet.
