Bassoonist Ran Ran is a national first class performer, vice chairman of the Guangdong Band Directors Association, member of the China Musicians Association, director of the China Bassoon Society and the Guangdong Musicians Association, and a founder of the ensemble Whisper Bassoon. He is currently the associate principal bassoon of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra with performances at prominent concert halls around the world and has served as a jury member in different music competitions and grading examinations. He also worked as a professor at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in 2007.

Ran has published a number of academic papers and music teaching materials, such as Woodwind Instruments: Difficult Orchestral Excerpts for Practice, and Starting from Zero: New Curriculum for Introduction to Saxophone. In 2021, as the managing editor, he compiled the Textbooks for Social Arts Grading Examinations of Guangdong Musicians Association: A Collection of Pieces for Bassoon Grading Examination.
