Tan Loke Chuah

Tan obtained a Bachelor of Music Education (Hons) from the University of Toronto, and is currently an associate principal of Singapore Chinese Orchestra. He is active in promoting percussion and conducts school bands in Singapore. As an avid educator, he helped conceptualise the National Youth Percussion Festival in Singapore in 2001 for budding young percussion players.

Tan has been involved in the local music scene from young, through participation in the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Armed Forces Chinese Orchestra, North York Concert Orchestra, Nishikawa Ensemble, etc. He studied percussion under the tutelage from Russell Hartenberger, Robin Engelman, Beverly Johnston, John Rudolph, and learnt conducting from Ivars Taurins and Ormsby Wilkins.
