Wang Zhaoyuan

Wang is a clarinet instructor at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and a director of the Zhejiang Band Directors Association. He graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in China and the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts in Germany, and studied under Wang Qichen; Yuan Yuan; Manfred Preis, clarinettist of the Berliner Philharmoniker; and Wolfhard Pencz, principal clarinet of the Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra. Wang has also served as the principal clarinet of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra, concertmaster of the China Youth Symphonic Band, and a clarinetist of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra.

Wang often performs as a soloist and a chamber musician at various occasions, including the China premiere of Chen Yi’s clarinet piece Chinese Ancient Dances and Moving Scenery – Concert of New Contemporary Chamber Music. He has also published a number of academic papers and his students have been admitted to tertiary music institutions in different regions for further studies.
