Wei Yuru

Wei is the principal zhongruan of the China National Traditional Orchestra, a national first class performer, a recipient of the Government Special Allowance of the State Council, a member of the China Musicians Association, the executive director of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society, a member of the Specialists’ Guidance Commission for the Work Relating to the National Band Tests of Social Art Skills, an adjudicator of the China Youth Art Competition and the Chinese Instrumental Music Competition, and a member of the editorial board of China Music: Ruan Volume.

She has toured Asia, Africa, Europe and America, performing Chinese music at the Golden Hall in Vienna, Lincoln Center in New York and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens. She has recorded several albums of zhongruan music and published zhongruan tutorial books. She was invited thrice to give talks and performances by The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 2019, she performed a ruan recital with the China National Traditional Orchestra at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.
