Graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), Wong furthered his studies in France and the United States. He is passionate in teaching, and currently serves as an assistant professor of saxophone at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He is also a faculty member at HKAPA, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Education University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Wong was invited to serve as a jury member of international music competitions, an examiner of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, a member of the Society of Pi Kappa Lambda in the United States, as well as the artistic director of Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy. He also promotes contemporary music and has premiered over 50 music pieces dedicated to him.
