Wu is the principal trumpet of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, national first class performer, director of the Trumpet Committee in China and the Institute of Music of Guangdong Province.

Wu graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music under trumpet educator Chen Jia-Min. In 2007, he furthered his studies in Germany under Reinhold Friedrich and Wolfgang Bauer, graduating from the Karlsruhe University of Music, and obtaining a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. He was the guest principal trumpet of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Macao Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, Sichuan Symphony Orchestra and Xinjiang Philharmonic Orchestra, and a jury member of the Youth Symphonic Band Competition by Shenzhen Association for Symphonic Bands, the Hong Kong International Music Festival Music Competition (Shenzhen Region) and the Macao Young Musicians Competitions.
