Zhu Lin

Born in Shanghai, Zhu started to learn cello at the age of five and began her studies at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts at the age of 15. In 2001, she was admitted to The Juilliard School in the United States on a full scholarship where she studied under Joel Krosnick and obtained both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree. In 2009, she graduated with a Master’s degree in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in the United States and joined the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, where she is currently serving as the principal cello. She has been teaching at the Shanghai Orchestra Academy since 2015.

Zhu often performs with prominent orchestras and conductors as a soloist and has given recitals in Asia, Europe and North America. In 2017, she was awarded the Magnolia Silver Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the cultural industry development of Shanghai.
