Francis Kan

In 1993, after graduating from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Kan continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music in London with a full scholarship. Recommended by Maestro Sergio Commissiona, he was appointed as a conducting intern of the Asian Youth Orchestra. In 1995, he won the International Competition for Young Conductors in Portugal.

He had been the principal conductor of the Union Philharmonic Orchestra, HKUSU, since its inception until 2013. He was the assistant conductor of the Macao Orchestra from 2006 to 2023, and a resident conductor at the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra from 2010 to 2012. He has collaborated with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, Romanian National Radio Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, China NCPA Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra, to name a few.
