The Anim’Arte NAM VAN, jointly developed by the Macao Government Tourism Office, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the Sports Bureau and the Institute for Tourism Studies, under the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, has provided diverse services and experiences in cultural tourism and leisure to the public. Since 8 August, the Anim’Arte NAM VAN graffiti display area has been featuring new creations dedicated to the theme “Colourful Summer”. All are welcome to visit and take photos.

In order to enrich the artistic and cultural elements of the neighbourhood and promote an in-depth tour of local culture, IC is launching a new graffiti beautification project at the graffiti display area by collaborating with two invited graffiti artists, Anny (Chong Wai), a local female artist, and Few (Felipe Timmy Wong Chang), an artist from Costa Rica, to create a new graffiti mural entitled “Animalia Imaginaria - Animal Paradise in Fantasy” under the theme “Colourful Summer”. By employing the rich body dynamics of chickens, cows, horses, dogs, bears, and other lively animals, as well as using various colours and abstract and concrete visual images, this graffiti collaboration shows the diversity of living creatures in the world and their symbiotic relationship.

Born and raised in Macao, local artist Anny studied in Australia and is currently a full-time graffiti artist, graphic illustrator, sculptor, and toy designer. Few is a street artist, illustrator, and toy designer from Costa Rica who loves Chinese and Western cultures. On 8 August, both artists had an interactive teaching session with interested parties on the spot and together they created a large-scale sculpture named Moejoe. The relevant work is now being publicly displayed in the Anim’Arte NAM VAN, and everyone is welcome to visit and enjoy the passionate graffiti art works.

IC has been inviting local and foreign artists to exhibit creative works in the Anim’Arte NAM VAN graffiti display area since 2016, and will continue to make use of the area to promote graffiti art by forging further collaborations with different artists.
