The 2024 Beijing International Cultural and Tourism Consumption Expo, organised by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, was held from 1 to 3 November at the Beijing Exhibition Center, where the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) of the Macao SAR Government was invited to set up the Macao Pavilion “City of Performing Arts”, showcasing the city’s large-scale signature festive events and its rich cultural tourism resources, and promoting its cultural image.
Under the theme of “City of Performing Arts”, the Pavilion featured the design of the Dom Pedro V Theatre, a Macao World Heritage site, and highlighted the city’s cultural and festive events through texts, images and multimedia. In addition, an exploration area dedicated to “Visiting the Ruins of St. Paul’s in Space and Time – Exhibition of Virtual Reality at the Ruins of St. Paul’s” was set up at the venue, allowing participants to experience the landscapes of Macao World Heritage through technology by wearing the virtual reality devices. Members of the public can also purchase distinctive souvenirs dedicated to Macao’s cultural and artistic festivals in the Pavilion. Besides, the Pavilion introduced the Macao International Parade and various historical areas of the city and promoted the Dom Pedro V Theatre and other performing arts venues such as the new Macao Outdoor Performance Area which will be built in the future.
The Beijing International Cultural and Tourism Consumption Expo brings together organisations and enterprises from many countries around the world, and provinces and municipalities in the Mainland China, making it an important platform to showcase the image, resources, products and services of cultural tourism. IC actively promotes the development of Macao’s role as a “base of exchange and cooperation where Chinese culture is the mainstream and diverse cultures coexist”, adding vitality to Macao’s tourism through performing arts events, creating new cultural tourism projects and promoting Macao’s cultural image through large roadshow platforms.
