How does artistic creation transcend time and geography to resonate with audiences across different eras and cultures? Renowned playwright He Jiping will delve into her creative journey in writing Deling and Cixi, sharing how her narratives are crafted as bridges between the stage and the audience. He Jiping will also discuss Hong Kong and Macao’s current landscape of artistic and cultural creation, offering personal insights and reflections that may inspire young artists and theatre enthusiasts.

A celebrated playwright, He Jiping has had her works featured in China’s Ministry of Education’s secondary school curriculum, published in Anthology of Contemporary Chinese Literature. Twice nominated for Best Screenplay at the Hong Kong Film Awards, she has also received a Golden Horse Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Her notable works include the plays The Top Restaurant and Deling and Cixi, as well as the films New Dragon Gate Inn and The Warlords.
