Tradition is alive and well in the beautiful
landscapes of Slovakia, and it is from the land that the Slovak National
Folkloric Ballet draws its inspiration. For the past 50 years they have opened
eyes and ears all over the world to the typical sounds and dances of their
Eastern European country.
This group of 30 dancers, joined as a rule by a
band and choir, is considered the highest expression of Slovak culture and said
to weave the very fabric of tradition from living colour. A more typical group
could not exist, if only for the fact that two thousand Slovak artists have
graduated from its ranks, preserving and renewing among them the cultural
repertoire that calls to mind the flavour of their land.
