Symphony Nº 2 D major, op. 36 ▍ Symphony Nº 3 in E-flat major, op. 55, (“Eroica”)
Conductor: Yip Wing Sie
Beethoven was thirty years old when he began writing symphonies. The unique personality and innovative style that already characterized most of Beethoven’s works also emerged in his Symphonies Nº 1 and Nº 2. In 1805, Beethoven finished his Symphony Nº 3 “Eroica”, which symbolizes a turning point in his symphonic composition style. In the “Eroica”, Beethoven portrayed his idea of a hero in a remarkably innovative style, in an image representing revolutionary war and victory. The “Eroica” was a milestone in the history of the symphony, and a major reform in classical music composition.
