These are traditional melodies, awakened to new
life by five musicians from the Macao Chinese Orchestra. In this one-of-a-kind
concert, roots will spread through us like "Running Water" with the ancient
Guqin sighing the delicate "Song of the Plum Tree", followed closely by a
"Dark Night" on the Jinghu. The Dizi lends its graceful air to
"The Orchid in Springtime", while the Sheng waits for "The Flight of the
Phoenix" to come into view. In closing, the quintet speaks as one to the hearts
of all with "Ever-Pressing Urgency", the last of the Chinese pearls arranged for
this special concert.
