The Qinqiang opera Women Generals of the Yang Family is a crystallisation of the national spirit, imbued with inspiring heroism. This new edition, specially presented by the Shaanxi Traditional Chinese Opera Research Institute, respects both tradition and the original work. It is newly arranged by playwrights Chen Yan and Hu Xiaoping, a national first class director and the artistic director of the Shanghai Yueju Opera Theatre, together with Wang Qing of the Shanghai Peking Opera Theatre. With a strong line-up of young artists in beautiful costumes, this fabulous performance will surely be one of the highlights of the festival.
