The Sydney Symphony is Australia's flagship orchestra. Its seasons bear the hallmark of artistic excellence with performances by a stellar line-up of internationally renowned soloists, Australia’s top musicians and the world’s most illustrious and sought-after conductors. The Orchestra celebrated in 2007 its 75th anniversary, along with the milestones it has achieved during its distinguished history. In January 2009 world-renowned pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy took up the position of Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the Sydney Symphony. He will delight the public with a truly eclectic and exciting programme which includes Elgar’s enigmatic Enigma Variations!
