P. I. Tchaikovsky:Dance of the Tumblers, from the opera The Snow Maiden
Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, op. 23
Symphony No. 4 in F minor, op. 36
Renowned Russian-American conductor Edvard Tchivzhel, revered by cellist Yo-Yo Ma as the master of masters, joins hands with outstanding Chinese pianist Ju Jin to present Tchaikovsky’s ever-popular Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor – the piece with which Ju Jin won third prize at the 12th Tchaikovsky International Competition. The master and the talented star will doubtlessly demonstrate their harmonious co-ordination and proficient artistry in performing this work.
The Symphony No. 4 in F minor, with its fatalist first movement, earned Tchaikovsky a significant international reputation. Featuring unique melodic aesthetics, a refined structure and delicate orchestration skills, the work evinces the composer’s thirst for happiness as well as his feelings of anxiety.
The two experienced masters will showcase three of Tchaikovsky’s leading works in the same musical evening!
