The rising and falling melody of Urtiin Duu (long song), the deep and powerful sound of Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), and the exquisite and magnificent singing of Khoomei (throat singing) are the three artistic treasures of Mongolian pastoral nomads. They perfectly outline the stark beauty of Mongolia’s expansive rural landscapes while manifesting its unique ethnic spirit.
There is no doubt that Morin Khuur is the most representative traditional musical instrument of Mongolia: its shape, tone and music style are the best portrayal of the “ethnic community on horseback”. The melody of Urtiin Duu, accompanied by the Morin Khuur, is the most important vocal genre in Mongolia. The broad and splendid rhythm of Urtiin Duu signifies the experience of nature, history and life of the Mongolians. Khoomei is unparalleled among all music around the world, whereby an individual breathtakingly renders the music piece as two parts of a choir. The superb Mongolian State Morin Khuur Ensemble will present the authentic Mongolian traditional music to the audience, escorting them to the vast and stunning Mongolian Plateau through their fascinating voices and tunes.
