In celebration of the 67th Anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China, the “Performance to celebrate the 67th Anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China”, jointly organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Department of Culture and Education of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, and in cooperation with the Sports Bureau, will be held on 30 September, at 8pm, and 1 October, at 3pm and 8pm, featuring a “Acrobatic Performance ‘The Legendary Swordsman’”, performed by the Guangzhou Acrobatic Arts Theatre Co., Ltd. Tickets on sale from 26 August 2016, at the Macau Ticketing Network.
The “Performance to celebrate the 67th Anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China” is an adaptation made by renowned director Shen Chen of the original work by Jin Yong, published by the Publicity Department of Guangzhou Municipal Committee of Chinese Communist Party and the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television, Press and Publication. The performance features mainly acrobatics, but also fuses martial arts, dance, theatre and traditional performances from several places in Guangdong province, among other stage arts, revealing the profound sense of justice of the Chinese martial arts chivalry. The play has five main characters, namely Linghu Chong, Ren Yingying, Yue Buqun, Invincible Orient and Ren Woxing, and, taking from the narrative “Mallow Journal”, is centred around the opposition between good and evil.
The performance makes use of new creations and explores new acrobatics, in order to highlight the strength and visual effect of martial arts, featuring all kinds of difficult acrobatics performed atop a wobbly metal pole as well as all sorts of somersaults atop static and moving bamboo rods, breaking with the traditional style of acrobatics performance and offering the audience a unique performance. As to stage design, the troupe has developed a series of high quality elements such as choreography, music, costumes and light design, which are presented as a flowing scroll of martial arts, giving the public the ultimate Chinese aesthetic experience. In addition to a concise and elaborate plot, it vividly portrays the world of martial arts, the heroic spirit of the leading characters and the cultural charm of the acrobatics and martial arts.
