27 - 30/1/2017
The “Tambourin Dance of the Liannan Yao Autonomous County”, inscribed in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage, is a typical example of singing and dancing of the Liannan Yao Autonomous County of Guangdong Province, characterized by rich performance methods, by propagation through several regions and by different forms and styles. It is mostly used in celebrations of national holidays, wedding feasts, harvest celebrations, and other similar occasions. The dance mimics manufacturing or animal movements; dancers change rhythm with their dance movements and convey different themes and feelings. Their movements are raw, bold, unrestrained, determined, strong, daring and loose; whether they are jumps, squats, bend or whirls or somersaults, etc., they all reveal the Yao minority’s unbridled enthusiasm and strong and brave temperament.
The “Artistic Group of Liannan Yao Autonomous County of Guangdong Province” will perform at different locations and times from 27 January (Chinese New Year’s eve) to 30 January (third day of the Chinese New Year). For more information, please access the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s webpage dedicated to the Lunar New Year of The Rooster at https://www.icm.gov.mo/newyearevent/ or call 8399 6699, during office hours.
